In 1492 Christopher Columbus Sailed the Ocean Blue Koren
Why Did Columbus "Sail the Ocean Blue" in 1492?
by John D. Guandolo
On Monday, America celebrated Columbus Day, and it is a federal holiday.
Everyone knows the saying, "In fourteen hundred and ninety-two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue," but how many people know WHY he did so in 1492 and not 1592 or 1422?
The answer is simple. For nearly 800 years, the muslims controlled Spain. Yes, 800. That is not a typo. Muslims conquered Spain in the year 711 AD.
Centuries of battle to retake Spain ended on January 2, 1492, when Spain retook Granada, and ended what is today called the "Reconquista" or the retaking of Spain.
Following this, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella launched Christopher Columbus to find new trade routes because the muslims controlled many of them.
This is not taught in schools in America today, but it should be.
There is a continuum of jihad by the Islamic world against the non-muslim world that began in 622 AD when Islam's "prophet" Mohammad launched the first jihad, through his death in 632 AD, to the time when his followers conquered Jerusalem in 637 AD in an unprovoked assault on the Holy Land of the Jews and Christians.
In 100 years from the time of Mohammad's death, the Islamic armies moved into Europe culminating at the Battle of Tours (France) in 732 AD.
After 473 year of unprovoked aggression against the West by muslims, the First Crusades were declared by Pope Urban II in 1095 AD. Less than 200 years and a handful of battle make up the "Crusades" yet the global jihad rolled on as it does today.
The West defended itself against in the muslims in great battles including the Reconquista of Spain, the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, and the last great battle in the West against the muslim hordes on September 11th and 12th 1683 at the Gates of Vienna.
In 1786, U.S. Ambassadors Thomas Jefferson and John Adams met in England with the Ambassador of Tripoli to Great Britain Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja to ask him why muslims were seizing American ships on the high seas, and kidnapping and holding our citizens for ransom.
It should be noted that 20% of America's gross national product was spent on tribute to the muslim "Barbary" states at the time.
Adja's response to Jefferson in Adams was memorialized in a letter written by them to the Continental Congress and sits in the Library of Congress today.
This letter says, in part:
Islam "was founded on the laws of their prophet, that it was written in their quran that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authroity were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every mussleman (muslim) who should be slain in battle was sure to go to paradise."
It is interesting that what the Ambassador to Tripoli told Jefferson and Adams is exactly what Al Qaeda, ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood, and school text books for muslim children in U.S. Islamic schools teach about Islam today.
It is also interesting to note that the first quran translated into English (London, 1649) – which Thomas Jefferson owned – stated the purpose for translating it was so the "Christian reader" would know the enemy – Islam – and be better prepared to defeat it on the field of battle.
The history of Columbus discovering America is tied to Islam's perpetual war against the non-muslim world, and so too is America's history directly tied to the unprovoked aggression of Islam's barbaric and totalitarian doctrine of sharia.
It, therefore, should be taught to our children as a normal part of American history, because it is.
